Careers - Job Description

Content Creator

Location: Remote / flexible — able to shoot, edit and deliver content independently

Engagement type: Contract, project-based

Immediate need: Creators whose content resonates with audiences in their late 30s to early 50s

About the Role

Roommate is building a roster of experienced content creators to support performance marketing campaigns for our client roster. We're looking for creators who know how to make content that works — not just content that looks good. You'll be creating short-form video and social content designed to hit real engagement, acquisition, and conversion goals across Meta, TikTok, and YouTube.

This is a contract role. You'll be brought on for specific client engagements, with the opportunity for ongoing work as our roster and client needs grow.

What You'll Do

  • Create scroll-stopping, platform-native content (hooks, edits, pacing) tailored to each brief and campaign goals

  • Shoot and edit your own content — you bring your own gear and know how to produce polished, professional-quality work independently

  • Translate creative briefs into content that fits brand voice while still feeling authentic to your own style

  • Develop and test multiple creative hooks/angles per brief to support performance testing

  • Stay current on platform trends, vernacular, and best practices across Meta (Instagram/Facebook), TikTok, and YouTube

  • Deliver content that resonates across a variety of audiences — we have an immediate need for creators who connect well with audiences in their late 30s to early 50s

  • Collaborate with the Roommate team on feedback, revisions, and performance learnings

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience creating content for brands (not just personal/lifestyle content) — please share past brand work/examples

  • Comfortable working across multiple content formats: testimonial-style, trend-driven, hook-first ad creative, etc.

  • Strong understanding of what drives engagement and performance on Meta, TikTok, and YouTube specifically — algorithm literacy, not just posting experience

  • Self-sufficient: your own camera/phone, lighting, audio, and editing setup

  • Able to take a creative brief and run with it, while still bringing creative instincts of your own

  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable with deadlines and revision rounds

  • Socially-native: you live on your socials, you track what’s trending, what hooks are working now and bring ideas to the table

Engagement Details

  • Contract, per-project basis — scope and rate discussed per engagement

  • Ongoing opportunities for creators who deliver strong, consistent results

  • Remote-friendly; some engagements may call for local/in-person shoots depending on client
